Château de Chalais
This imposing castle was once the family home of the aristocratic Talleyrand-Périgord family. Access to the main coutyard is via a 16th century drawbridge, one of the few working examples of this kind of drawbridge in France. The Renaissance-style architecture of the main living area of the castle is remarkable for its typical 17th century façade. A guided tour of the castle focuses on the story of the Talleyrand-Périgord family and the castle's rebirth, with details and anectodes from experts of the heritage Association pour la Sauvegarde du Patrimoine de Chalais. The Château de Chalais also offers the rental of reception rooms (with the possibility of overnight stay). For any information concerning the rental of rooms, contact Mr. Bruneau at 06 76 45 50 64 or by email at the following address: cvinejlb@hotmail.fr
