Saint-Laurent Church

Saint-Laurent Church
Saint-Laurent Church

Its stained glass windows are not of the period. They were rebuilt using 12th century methods and materials. That is to say, stained glass windows without colours, white on white, with simple assemblies of medallions, symbols of plants and crosses.

There is no account of why the church was dedicated to St Lawrence. Only the story of this saint remains. He was a fervent believer, a deacon of the church in Rome in the 3rd century AD, who was arrested and burned alive for refusing to hand over the church's treasures to the emperor Valerian. One of the stained glass windows in the building tells the story of St. Lawrence's martyrdom when he was attacked by fire.
