The church, which was under the control of a Cluniac priory, is remarkable for the quality of its architecture and its decoration. The building is Romanesque, with the exception of the facade and nave which were rebuilt later. The elegant apse, adorned with blind arcades, and the cupola of the bay under the bell tower are built with diamond pattern stonework which adds an elegant decorative touch. For Cluniac monks the main function of the richness of the decor was to elevate
the souls and encourage meditation.
