Village de Baignes-Sainte-Radegonde
You can enjoy the Galope Chopine, a portion of the greenway where it is possible to ride a bike, walk, ride a horse, and even rollerblade. This route is often shaded and facilitates the discovery of a large number of landscapes, ranging from the vineyards of cognac to forests of pine, oak and chestnut trees.
Baignes-Sainte-Radegonde is also a historical village! In the heart of the village, you will find the market hall, a meeting place for the people of Baignes. Markets are held there every Wednesday and Sunday morning. You will have the opportunity to meet our local producers and craftsmen, and to discover their know-how. Among the other points of interest of the village, we find the Saint-Etienne abbey and the Sainte-Radegonde church, two Romanesque buildings, the Montausier tower and the Font Madame fountain. The latter is known to cure eye diseases. It is said that Louis XIII himself came to Baignes-Sainte-Radegonde to benefit from its miraculous virtues.
These attributes make the village a site known for its "art of living". For this reason, the ancients gave it the name of Bénia, "the land of the blessed" ... A happiness that deserves to be shared and to be visited!
