Saint-Martial Church of Chalais
The rest of the construction and the nearby cloisters were destroyed during the Wars of Religion, and rebuilt in the seventeenth century. The richly-decorated façade consists of a polylobed doorway flanked by two blind arcades, and the tympanum depicts the Holy women at the tomb (in the South), and the Christ with two apostles (in the North). Inside the church the ceilings are decorated with trompe-lʼoeil paintings.
