Go to the centre of the village of Aubeterre-sur-Dronne, one of the most beautiful villages in France, to start the first few meters of the loop. From there, head towards the commune of Laprade and continue to the village of Saint-Séverin. As you approach the village of Saint-Séverin, head towards its water tower. There should be an information panel at the foot of the structure, with a beautiful view of the village in the background. Continue on to the next stop, the village of Pillac. Before arriving in the village, you must cross the border of the village of Montignac-le-Coq and cross the river Auzonne. Then, a few hundred metres from the village, turn left and drive through the forest of Pillac and Saint-Romain. This wooded area was the home of Élysée Villatte, known as the Hermit of Pillac. During the second half of the 20th century, this man lived in these forests for almost 40 years. His extraordinary story made the front page of the newspaper Paris Match in 1963. On your way to the end of the tour, don't forget to stop at the Fermiers Gastronomes de Saint-Romain. These poultry farmers produce and sell artisanal foie gras. You can then enjoy a tasting on the spot before ending your tour in the village of Aubeterre-sur-Dronne.
