Base VTT Sud-Est Charente - Circuit VTT n°1
Blanzaguet-Saint-Cybard
4 Rue Galard de Bearn
16320 Blanzaguet-Saint-Cybard
Departure altitude: 104 m
Before you set off, stop for a few minutes in the heart of the village, in front of the Blanzaguet castle. This 12th century building was the residence of the Poitevin family, who ruled the estate for nearly four centuries. A tower at the south-east corner of the castle bears their name, the "Poitevins tour".
Then you can admire the Romanesque church of Saint-Pierre-Saint-Paul, also built in the 12th century. Inside, there are two sculptures of the two saints. Can you recognise them?
Once you've finished visiting, you can take a stroll along the country roads of South Charente. Here, you don't have to make any effort! The difference in altitude is very small and can be used for family rides or outings with friends.
When you have finished your walk, make a detour to the municipal park of Blanzaguet-Saint-Cybard: the Arboretum. Here you will find a natural and relaxing area, set up for picnic breaks.
