Base VTT Sud-Est Charente - Circuit VTT n°2
Blanzaguet-Saint-Cybard
4 Rue Galard de Bearn
16320 Blanzaguet-Saint-Cybard
Departure altitude: 104 m
Before arriving at the discovery site, you will have to go to the village of Blanzaguet-Saint-Cybard which marks the beginning of the loop. There, you will have the opportunity to discover the Blanzaguet castle and the Romanesque church of Saint-Pierre-Saint-Paul.
Once you have visited these two monuments, head towards the river Foultron and walk along the valley. You will come face to face with the "Mushroom", an unusual looking rock, which has been sculpted by time and erosion.
Finally, at the halfway point, the long-awaited discovery awaits you. You will be only a few metres away from the site where the skeleton of the famous Quina woman was exhumed. This lady is said to have lived between 50 and 80,000 years before Christ. Her bones were discovered by Doctor Léon-Henri-Martin, a doctor and a leading figure in prehistory in the Charente.
